PROGRAM OVERVIEW

The Ghana–Switzerland Global Young Leaders Programme is a distinguished bi-continental initiative designed to develop globally minded, ethically grounded, and culturally intelligent leaders. The programme integrates:

  • A rigorous Academic and Leadership Foundation Phase in Ghana delivered by Winrock Business School (WBS)
  • An immersive International Study and Leadership Experience in Switzerland hosted by the Institute for Peace and Dialogue (IPD) (IPD)

Participants who successfully complete both phases are awarded a Dual Certificate in Global Leadership and Intercultural Governance, jointly issued by WBS and IPD, recognizing their academic preparation and international engagement.

 PROGRAM STRUCTURE (Blended Model)

The programme is delivered in two integrated phases, combining academic preparation in Ghana with an immersive international experience in Switzerland.

PHASE 1: Ghana Leadership Foundation

📍 Location: Accra, Ghana – Campus of Winrock Business School
📅 Duration: 4–6 Weeks (Weekend or Intensive Format)

This foundational phase equips participants with the intellectual, ethical, and practical tools required for global leadership. Sessions are facilitated by WBS faculty alongside selected guest lecturers from Institute for Peace and Dialogue (IPD).

Core Learning Areas:

  1. Leadership Principles and Ethical Responsibility
  2. Conflict Management and Negotiation
  3. Diversity, Inclusion, and Intercultural Communication
  4. African Governance Systems and Regional Institutions
  5. Public Speaking and International Presentation Skills
  6. Capstone Group Project Design and Preparation

Learning Approach:

  • Africa-focused case studies
  • Leadership simulations and scenario analysis
  • Collaborative research projects
  • Structured role plays
  • Virtual cultural exchange sessions with Swiss-based participants

This phase ensures participants are academically and professionally prepared before the international immersion.

PHASE 2: Switzerland International Immersion

📍 Location: Basel, Switzerland, with study visits to other key cities
📅 Duration: 7–9 Days

Hosted by IPD in collaboration with the WBS delegation, this phase provides direct exposure to global governance institutions and intercultural leadership practice.

Academic and Experiential Components:

  • Advanced Global Leadership Masterclasses
  • International Organizations and Global Governance Systems
  • Peacebuilding and Mediation Practice
  • Study Visit to United Nations offices and international NGOs in Geneva
  • Cultural diplomacy engagements
  • Cross-border exposure visits to France and Germany

Possible Study Visits:

  • United Nations Offices in Geneva
  • Swiss NGOs and policy institutions
  • Government and cultural visits to Bern and Lucerne
  • Rhine River networking and cultural exchange activities in Basel

During this international phase, participants formally present their Capstone Projects before an international audience, culminating in the award of the Dual Certificate.

TARGET PARTICIPANTS

The programme is designed for ambitious and globally minded young individuals who aspire to lead across borders and sectors. Ideal participants include:

  • Young leaders between the ages of 16–25
  • University and senior high school students
  • Emerging entrepreneurs and innovators
  • Youth representatives from NGOs and civil society organizations
  • Early-career public sector professionals

A dedicated participation track is also available for:

  • Group Leaders (up to 35 years)
  • School or institutional delegations accompanied by a designated supervisor

DUAL CERTIFICATION FRAMEWORK

Upon successful completion of both phases, participants are awarded two internationally recognized certificates:

Certificate in Leadership and Global Citizenship
Issued by Winrock Business School (Ghana)

Certificate in International Peacebuilding and Intercultural Dialogue
Issued by Institute for Peace and Dialogue (IPD) (Switzerland)

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of the Ghana–Switzerland Global Young Leaders Dual Certificate Programme delivered by Winrock Business School in partnership with Institute for Peace and Dialogue (IPD), participants will be able to:

  • Demonstrate cultural intelligence and inclusive leadership behavior

Public Speaking & Global Presentation Skills

Deliver structured and persuasive presentations to international audiences

Defend policy ideas and leadership proposals with clarity and confidence

Engage effectively in simulations, debates, and panel discussions

Applied Leadership Practice

  • Develop and present a Capstone Leadership Project addressing a real-world challenge
  • Collaborate effectively in multicultural teams
  • Translate leadership theory into practical, actionable solutions

Personal & Professional Development

By the end of the programme, participants will not only understand leadership in theory, but will have practiced it in both African and European contexts emerging as globally aware, ethically grounded, and culturally intelligent young leaders prepared to operate beyond borders.
